Stop Worrying About “The Best”

If you’re like me, your social media feeds are flooded with headlines promising the best—the best ab exercises, the best diet for your body type, the best morning routine, the best way to optimize your life. The best, the best, the best.

Well, I’m here to make an argument against chasing the best, and here’s why.

Now, I realize this might sound contradictory coming from someone who’s relentlessly striving to be the best at what they do—the best chiropractor in town, the best prenatal and infant specialist, the best transformation expert. And yes, I do aim to be the best in these areas.

But here’s the thing: I don’t get there by only doing the best of everything.

The Paralysis of Perfection

Trying to find and follow the best—the best workout routine, the best nutrition plan, the best productivity system—can lead to paralysis. We get so caught up in trying to do things perfectly that we end up doing nothing at all.

Should Olympians be doing the best workouts? Absolutely. But for the average person? That standard is not only unrealistic—it’s counterproductive.

This obsession with only doing the best can create a negative self-image and a constant sense of falling short. Worse, it can make us avoid taking action altogether. Because if we can’t do it all perfectly, why bother starting at all?

Done Beats Perfect Every Time

If you took every expert’s must-do daily workouts, you’d need 4–8 hours a day just to fit them in. That’s simply not realistic for people with careers, families, and lives beyond the gym.

So instead of fixating on the best, let’s focus on better.

Is 30 minutes of yoga better than 10? Sure. But is 5 minutes better than none? Absolutely.

The goal isn’t to start at the top. The goal is to start. Period.

The Philosophy of “Better”

This is exactly why I named my business Better Life—because life isn’t about some unattainable pinnacle of perfection. It’s about constant growth, constant improvement, and moving toward something better, step by step.

Even those striving to be the best are really just committed to getting better every single day.

So stop being so hard on yourself. Stop trying to start at the best, because that mindset sets you up for failure.

Instead, start with starting. And then? Strive to do better.

Because done beats perfect. Every. Single. Time.
